Today we had to help one hell of a good reading companion cross the rainbow bridge. Luckily we had assistance from the wonderful people at The Cat Doctor and it was a peaceful and tearful final journey. Murphy was a fighter who beat cancer and used every one of his nine lives before he left this world behind. We were blessed that he chose us. Always charming, sometimes funny, and amazingly quiet with the softest fur, Murphy made even crummy days better. He would often sit like this on the porch with me as I wrote book reviews enjoying the sunshine in one of his shirts that he truly enjoyed wearing. Murphy was a very tolerant cat and usually enjoyed visitors much more than Moon who would disappear before quests even arrived. When we adopted a big dog, Murphy somehow let it be known that he was the boss of the house without any screaming, fur fluffing, or fisticuffs. He was not a big cat and the dogs had the physical upper hand, but neither Jake nor Axle ever tried to overrun Murphy’s authority. Much respect to the quiet little boss of the house. He will live on forever in our hearts.

Many sympathies for the loss of your furry friend. I know how devastating it is to lose a beloved pet, and how huge a gap they leave in your life. ((hugs)) 🖤

Thank you, Rosetta. I apologize for not responding sooner, but my laptop hasn’t been working very well. Murphy was a tenacious cat and even though death was closing in, he refused to give up the fight. The rewards however had shrunk into nothing and he was staying alive to suffer which isn’t a win.

Exactly. Not an easy decision to make, but there comes a time when you know it’s the right one for their sake.

Exactly. Thank you for your kind words, I sincerely appreciate your friendship over the years. Your cheerleading and positivity is very inspirational. This year hasn’t been much for writing and reviewing. I haven’t even reached one hundred. But I’m slowly getting my feet back under me hoping that 2024 will be great year. I lucked out a few days ago and stumbled across an Acer pre-holiday sale and was able to purchase a replacement laptop for $300 including shipping, so that seems like a positive sign. It will be so nice to have a machine that just turns on and functions quickly again!

Excellent – I use an Acer, too! Definitely a positive sign for you – knowing it’s reliable for your writing will remove one potential source of stress, which is great.
Maybe focus on celebrating all the things you have achieved this year (🎊 for them), not what you haven’t, & aim to exceed those successes next year. I’ll be here cheering you on, so go for it. 🍀 🙂

Thanks! Yes I had an Acer before this very uncooperative Lenovo which is full of bloatware and is constantly trying to sell me things or just shutting down for no apparent reason. Someone suggested I try this brand and I have. Now I’ll return to something I can rely on and feel more comfortable with. You’re right, I have done a lot of other stuff. Got that big truck ready for winter, and multiple home repair jobs. It’s slow going with my back but we save a lot of money that way and I contribute to the household.

The Lenovo sounds like a disaster area. The sooner you get swapped over to the Acer, the better.
Well done! Those are real, solid achievements – not only will the repairs have saved you money, they’ll also be less to worry about in the future. Slow going still gets you there in the end, in true turtle fashion! 🐢
